At last year’s Jumpers and Jazz Festival–a music and textile art festival in Warwick, Australia–a team of 50 knitters built the Knitchen,
a replica of a kitchen in which everything from the salt and pepper
shakers to the stovetop were covered in various yarn-based textiles. The
installation, which featured copious examples of crochet work,
knitting, felting, and weaving, was displayed at the Warwick Art Gallery
in July and August. The entire installation took the knitting group
seven months to create. The group is now working on a follow-up
installation for the 2015 festival, which takes place in July.
